Lyme disease and Mental Results

In a conference pertaining to Lyme disease, the following quote was made:

“Pathophysiological changes have been associated with oxidative stress, excitotoxicity, changes in homocysteine metabolism and altered tryptophan catabolism.”

-Robert Bransfield, M.D.

Basically, this medical researcher is stating that the reaction of one’s body to Lyme disease infection and results can cause other medical manifestations. In particular, his focus is on the mental consequences that can result. Wow!!

Are you struggling with unusual mental symptoms that were not part of your life before? May the quote above provide some possible insight into what is occurring?

fyi – The above mentions “tryptophan catabolism.” If you’ve been here any length of time, you know that Parkinson’s Disease has been mentioned often. Tryptophan metabolism has a connection with serotonin, which is a familiar name to those having Parkinson’s.
